Comment:  Being there when all of this was installed the first time, understanding the complexities conquered and solved eluded me as a young DMCCC because I was there just after the last silo was dug and everything was now working.  My crew commander was there when silos were still being dug and LCCs were going online so he shared some of that with me.  We both were excited to be a part of all of this.  He was one of the few MCCCs at rank of Capt since most were Majors and Lt Cols and were old SAC navigators for the most part.  We learned a lot from them:  checklist discipline and the various aspects of command and control.  SAC took everything most seriously -- the Cold War was so real to us!
