Well said by the Farsider CC. Seems like most Missileers got into it via roundabout ways or motives, and then some grew to love it for itself.

Comment:  This is a good read.   Be encouraged -- we old SAC missileers are proud of you young missileers!  Be advised:  yours is one of the most difficult jobs in the world!  You are dealing with a  world on high alert as much and more than we faced in the Cold War!  Two hot wars -- both threatening to go nuclear  -- Europe and the Middle East.

Peace is our Profession was SAC's Motto -- Make it Yours -- You Did

I guess if I had to sum it up in a few words: I love missiles because it's regimented, precise, technical and rewarding. What we - maintenance, security forces, operations and support - do is enable good to triumph over evil. To steal a phrase from the Association of Air Force Missileers, it's a privilege and an honor to be a part of the "Fraternal Order of Subterranean Sentinels."
