Association of Air Force Missileers "Victors in the Cold War"

ICBM Heritage Day - AAFM, along with the Lance Sijan AFA chapter and AFSPC, sponsor the day long event attended by AFSPC missile staffers and contractors, and include briefings on the future of ICBMs, proprietary contractor sessions and a number of briefings on specific ICBM programs. This annual event has proved to be an excellent vehicle to keep the young men and women involved in ICBM programs current on the history of missile development. The fifth annual day was at Peterson AFB in July 2006.

AAFM Eighth National Meeting AAFM Eighth National Meeting - We met 9-13 October 2008 at the Hyatt Dulles Hotel near Dulles Airport in the Washington, DC area. More than 225 people took part in events that included tours of the Air Force Memorial, the Pentagon, Mt Vernon, the world War II Memorial, the Smithsonian Udvar Hazy and Gettysburg. On Friday night, Jacob Neufeld talked to us about Gen Bernard Schriever, Saturday morning Maj Gen Roger Burg gave a detailed update on the current ICBM force and the nuclear issues and Saturday night we were honored to have the USAF strolling string, followed by former Secretary of the Air Force Tom Reed talking about the Cold War. The 2010 National Meeting will be at the Radisson Airport in Tucson, Arizona, 6-10 October 2010, featuring tours of the Titan Museum, Pima Air Museum, the "Boneyard" and Davis Monthan AFB mission areas. Registration will be available by September 2009. The 2012 meeting will commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Minuteman and will be in Great Falls Montana.

Local Area Meetings - Local area meetings are held periodically at locations around the country - if you are interested in helping host one of these AAFM gatherings in your area, let us know.

Unit Reunions - The number of missile units that are conducting reunions is growing. We encourage these meetings, publicize the dates in our newsletter and in this home page and provide lists of members who have served in the organizations that conduct them. We also encourage involvement with the World War II units that were the forerunners of our missile units. Several missile unit reunions have been held in conjunction with the AAFM National Meetings. If your unit wants to host a reunion combined with our next meeting, let AAFM know - we arrange all the events, rooms and facilities and you get together with missileers from all backgrounds. We had three Atlas units with us in Cheyenne in 2006.
